YOGA AND STRESS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
YOGA AND STRESS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

One of the causes of failure in TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT; is; reducing the concept of yoga; to mere physical postures, breathing techniques, kriyas and dietary control. This trivialized yoga; is hyped, sold and purchased; for petty 'gains' and/or sickening gratification of ego!

This way we cannot manage the individual and global stress; which is in the form of deception, deceit, delirium, delusion, despondency, despair, defeat, degeneration, degradation, destruction and devastation!

However; we need not condemn others or ourselves for this.

In stead; we should use this great opportunity; to explore, understand, appreciate, practice and propagate yoga which is a process of evolving and practicing;
1. The perspective of global unity and harmony,
2. The thoughts and policies of global welfare,
3. Motivation and concern for global welfare,
4. Mutually gratifying and satisfying instincts
5. Activities conducive to individual and universal blossoming;
through; NAMASMARAN; the other measures, procedures and techniques (including those in hathayoga); being adjuvant.

STRESS BEEF AND COW DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS BEEF AND COW DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Many fail to understand and appreciate how personal stress and social stress multiply each other and how we contribute to stress in our own personal life as well as social life!

This is why; we try to manage stress through the workshops, seminars, lectures and counseling about stress management; revolving around; mere relaxation techniques, yogasanas
such as shavasana, meditation, diet, rituals, pendants and lockets! It is our common experience that even as these programs and solutions provided therein; are palliative, refreshing, consoling and soothing; they do not empower us to go to the root of stress and emerge winners in Total Stress Management. We go on beating around the bush, in vain hope!

Let us realize that; it is extremely important to understand, appreciate and internalize; that individual, stress; interact and multiply one another. Conversely, stress management at family, local, national and global levels and individual levels also complement one another!

Hence Total Stress Management involves; going to the root of the problems through holistic perspective, policies, plans and their implementation at local, national and global levels.

The case in point is the slaughter of animals for gratifying our technologically empowered highly sophisticated and fashionable; carnivorous craze of born from perversion of hunger and thirst for blood and flesh.

Ayurveda has gifted the world civilization; the wisdom of consuming cow urine; as a therapeutic agent. We ridicule the idea! We do not bother to even study; if the cow and other products are really beneficial for health and if so; in what way and how.

Having said that; today we must realize; that mere usefulness of cow urine or other animal products constitute somewhat utilitarian view point! It is not wrong when utility to the mankind is considered, but it is not holistic enough for Total Stress Management!

Stress springs through our non-holistic petty perspective and multiplies through; our petty policies, plans and actions. Hence we need holistic perspective that is mutually beneficial and blossoms the entire universal life from inside and outside.

Presently we are being governed by superficiality, pettiness, dullness, lassitude, parasitism, individualistic obsessions, and many perverted elements (which we often justify and feel proud of) at the cost of other living beings.

When we consume meat and relish it; we are ACTUALLY eating dead bodies of animals (necrophagia) and their urine and dung (urophagia and coprophagia), which our conscience never approves! This is how we invite stress and spread it!

We are not exercising "freedom to eat animals” but actually; we are "slaves of our cruel obsession of indiscriminate and perverted violence in killing and devouring dead animals" and vulgarly glorifying and glamorizing it as the ultimate pleasure in life! Our shameless hype of eating animals; leads to detrimental perpetuation of the perversion; and the stress; into the next generations far and wide in the world!

Through NAMASMARAN (The core of TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT); we can evolve holistic perspective, policies, plans, and their implementation, which involve; in this case; steps such as; not adoring, not glorifying, not promoting, not teaching, not practicing, not encouraging; and gradually but definitely stopping; BY LAW; the animal killing for “relishing” flesh and blood; while simultaneously creating better job options; for all those dependent for their survival; on such killings. This is one of the several accurate steps involved; in Total Stress Management.

COW CRUELTY AND CONSCIENCE DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
COW CRUELTY AND CONSCIENCE DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Yesterday; I read few incidences in the life of one of the greatest propounders of NAMASMARAN viz. Shri Brahmachaitanya Gondavlekar Maharaj from Gondavle of Satara district in Maharashtra (India). These were related to his compassion for cows.

He rescued cows on several occasions; from being slaughtered; even by paying double the money to the but
chers. Several spiritual leaders in the world; full of concern for universal welfare or holistic renaissance; were and are against cow slaughter.

Many of us; argue against cow slaughter; with economic excuses and plead that slaughter of cows and other animals; are biological and hence natural phenomenon of “animals eating animals”. They plead this; as if it is a necessity for survival of human beings. Obviously; these are utilitarian or rather callously exploitative views. They are deceptively attractive; but betray the soul and are treacherous to the conscience. This is disguised cruelty.
If our souls and consciences are to be cared for; and blossom; then the compassion in our heart has to rise above the cruelty inside and outside us.

The first expression of our compassion would be abstaining from eating meat. Second, would be to help people caring for and rearing cows. But such efforts to serve cows; at personal and institutional levels; are not enough; as the cows still continue to be slaughtered and eaten; by billions; even as their souls and consciences grieve! Hence; an international law, convention and consensus have to be built up for at least; stepwise prevention of slaughter of cows; followed by other animals. This is a vital part of total stress management.

The usual question is; why cow slaughter first; before all other animals?

The answer is; billions have inherited the special sympathy, care and even reverence for cow; as Hindus; though most religions advocate nonviolence. The rationalist may find this; blind belief or blind love. But; if they need no reason to love their kin and kith, fiancé, paramour or friends; then they should not need any reasoning for sympathizing, caring, or even revering cow; even if they find it blind!
The sympathy, care and reverence for cow, without any petty selfish and ulterior motive is tremendously beautiful and soothing to the soul.

In view of our own holistic blossoming; slaughter of cows and other animals ; should be banned at least stepwise; even if it sounds stressful initially; to our craving tongues; used to the taste of kidneys, stomach, saliva, intestines, liver, brain, heart, blood, muscles, cartilages, bones and also; urine, feces, tears and the chemicals secreted during death imposed against will; of cow!

As far as the economic aspects are concerned; the conscientious political and economic leaders can surely discover professional and job alternatives; to those involved in the transactions associated with; selling, slaughtering and reselling, cooking and catering; of kidneys, stomach, saliva, intestines, liver, brain, heart, blood, muscles, cartilages, bones and also; urine, feces, tears and the chemicals secreted during death imposed against will of cows.

STRESS RATIONALISM AND ATHEISM DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS RATIONALISM AND ATHEISM DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
=====================================================
One of the causes of stress; in individual and social life; is; division in the society into theists (believers) and atheists (disbelievers); believers and disbelievers in a reality beyond the realm of individual's (so called) wisdom; respectively.

One of the all time geniuses and devoutly worshiped as the God Himself; Jnaneshvar Maharaj (13th century) explains this dilemma. He writes in in Amrutanubhav (Literally; "Experience of Immortality"):

परी आणिका का आपणया
न पुरे विखो होआवया
म्हणोनी न असावया
कारण की
श्लोक 32, प्रकरण 4, अमृतानुभव.
ग्रंथकार: ष्री ज्ञानेश्वर महाराज.t

The essence in English:
The ultimate reality (God, Paramatma etc); is beyond the realm and horizons of human conceptualization and consciousness. Hence many find enough reason to negate the reality and become atheists.

The essence (भावार्थ) in Marathi:
परमात्मा स्वत:ला; ( खुद्द परमात्म्याला) किंवा दुसर्‍याला; ( जाणीवेच्या कक्षेत सामावला जाउन); "जाणण्याचा विषय; म्हणजे ज्ञेय बाब" होऊ शकत नाही. त्यामुळे तो नाहीच असे मानण्यास व म्हणण्यास ( बाह्यत:, वरपांगी पाहता; सबळ) कारण मिळते.

(The atheists disapprove the "existence of God" and "theism". They dismiss the universally benevolent ways of realizing this reality; viz. NAMASMARAN, JIKRA, SUMIRAN, SIMARAN, JAAP, JAP, POOJA; as useless or counterproductive. They thus fanatically believe "their own understanding as the ultimate reality".

The theist or believers; who do not know that ultimate reality is "Experience of Immortality" believe in their own imagination a kind, merciful and protector God as ultimate reality.

The TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT requires that we rise above such theism and atheism...and simply follow the practice of NAMASMARAN, JIKRA, SUMIRAN, SIMARAN, JAAP, JAP; as instructed by our GURU, the immortal reality personified".

STRESS; REPO AND REVERSE REPO: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS; REPO AND REVERSE REPO: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Repo rates are the rates of interest a bank has to pay to reserve bank, on the loan it takes from reserve bank.

Reverse repo rates are the rates of interest reserve bank pays to the bank on the deposit kept by a bank in the reserve bank.

In other words reserve bank increases repo and reverse repo rates to encourage deposits and discourage borrowing; by the banks; so that the cash flow to the consumers is reduced.

The increase in repo rates is expected to increase in the rates of interests on the loans given by the banks, reduction in cash flow, reduction in the demand and thus reduction in the prices that is inflation.

Can rate of inflation come down in this way?

By increasing repo and reverse repo; government is further reducing the little white money available to majority and we are being throttled, for buying of essential commodities. The producers of essential commodities suffer because; majority of them are also consumers of essential commodities, which they do not produce and NOW can not buy. The buyers and producers of the essential commodities such as agricultural products, bicycles, clothes etc. suffer in this way and the rate of production and hence the growth of all transactions of essential commodities; precipitously comes down.

But the rate of growth as documented in government files is not affected adversely because; the GDP is hardly reflected in the figures of industrial growth; because of the increasing production of the unnecessary and unaffordable (to majority of us) products, and increasing the sale of these products by owners of black money.

The availability of white money is reduced due to increasing repo and revere repo rates. But black money is freely flowing and hence those who have it; buy essential commodities at very high price (even if their production is reduced) and make life difficult for the majority and inflation of essential commodities continues!!

This is simply a sketch; the details can be filled by any realistic (holistic) and rational economist! But the way out is implementing holistic education, holistic health care and in fact holistic approach in every field.

When we say NAMASMARAN is a universal solution or panacea; we actually mean that it inspires holistic perspective, policies, plans and programs essential for holistic renaissance.

STRESS AND GLOBAL RECESSION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND GLOBAL RECESSION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

The root cause of global recession is the overpowering dominance of petty and tubular perspective over holistic perspective; in different fields. In other words; mean selfishness has overpowered the holistic aspirations of global welfare. We must appreciate that the very nature of petty perspective; is to enhance antagonism and suppress the holistic perspective that consolidates complementarity, inclusive growth and harmony.
This conflict is not new. But it has crossed the regional and national boundaries and hence its impact has become global.
How does petty perspective cause global recession?
Petty perspective is born out of slavery of incessant inner cravings for physical, monetary, political, cultural and other kinds of supremacy and control; beyond physiological needs. It results in unscrupulous pursuits towards gratification of these cravings.
Thus the industrialists prefer to nurture, encourage, enhance and promote such basal and morbid cravings and thrive on them by producing in excess and selling; weapons of mass destruction, cosmetics, sexual stimulants; and so on. The political leaders prefer to encourage such industries and we due to our obliviousness of the reality; prefer to support such political leaders.
If we take the example of medical business; it excessively emphasizes on individual fitness (as against holistic health) profitable to sell their products in the form tonics, exorbitant spas, so called fitness clubs and so on. The political leaders obsessed with petty gains encourage this in exchange for party funds and bribe. The medical experts drowned in petty pursuits support such industries favoring the hegemony of respective different systems of medicine (as against holistic medicine). We; due to our own pettiness support such industries and policies.
As a result of this; the economic activities in different fields of life revolve around the petty perspective and lead to exorbitant growth of utilities and services for the benefit of few! Thus in poor countries also we find; markets of jewelry, five star and seven star hotels and hospitals, unproductive glamour, wasteful glitter, petty luxuriousness and vulgar yet expensive entertainment.
These economic activities make few of us rich, glamorous, arrogant, but hollow, weak and sick. As a result of petty perspective these few are glorified by most major players of mass communication and most of us worship such petty achievements!
But since a majority of us do not have money to avail these five star services; the sale begins to fall. Then the rabid competition begins. This is often called free market economy, free competition etc. This involves frantic and unscrupulous efforts to market these useless and/or counterproductive commodities and services, through mutually exploitative ways of promotion; involving colossal waste!
The sickeningly rich amidst us; sustain the sale of such commodities and services for some time. In fact the economy appears to be strong and booming; due to the show; of glamour and glitter! But soon these industries begin to slow down due to lack of customers. They are still sustained by the political leadership through loans, subsidies and waving of loans. In other words; public funds are pumped in these dying ventures and most of us; tax payers; are further throttled!
The sham industrial growth due to its petty perspective and mutually antagonistic and wasteful activities; and throttling deprivation of billions of us, whose buying power gets desiccated/atrophied; races towards decay! The industrial profits begin to fall and the share prices plunge.
Since the money pumped in these businesses, whether by governments or investors’, is essentially our money (which would have been potentially useful for the global development); we the common people all over the world suffer maximum, the investors with buffering power suffer less and the business houses with much greater buffering power; suffer least; as the loans are often waved!!
Many of us suffer miserably and try to find solutions through movements against exploitation and corruption; but it can succeed only if we internalize holistic perspective, which embodies sublimation of inner cravings in realizing complementarity, inclusive growth and harmony; i.e. holistic renaissance. How can this be done?
1. The children have to be introduced to the measures of inner blossoming (to evolve holistic perspective and realize holistic renaissance); such as hymns, prayers, jikra and NAMASMARAN; right from the beginning.
2. The productive domain must be nurtured and the “epidemic of wasteful learning of unproductive activities” leading to scarcity of jobs and subsequent evils should be eradicated on war footing urgently and seriously.
3. The concept and practice of holistic medicine has to be evolved.
4. The concept of holistic health has to be evolved and practiced in all the fields of life; so as to make them complementary and synergistic and NOT petty, mutually antagonistic and detrimental to the mankind. Thus; the industrial, agricultural, horticultural and other productions and services; must subserve the fulfillment of physiological needs of all; and not the morbid interests, whims and fancies of few.
5. The further details however; can be worked out and evolved by the experts with holistic perspective in the different fields.

STRESS AND FATE (PRARABDHA) DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND FATE (PRARABDHA) DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

There were some people sitting on a ground and were crying; while holding their nostrils tightly.
A saint was passing by. He saw them and asked compassionately, "Why are you crying"?
They said "We are suffocated"

The saint said, "release your nostrils!!"
They said, "OK Sir... Thank you very much for advising us and giving us a wonderful solution; a panacea!! If it is in our fate (PRARABDHA), then we will certainly release our nostrils."

We harbor severe discontent deep within; as our soul and conscience are suffocated!! But we are oblivious of this stress as well as its cause!! We live in delirium, depression, meekness or arrogance.
To overcome the stress inside and outside; we keep "bashing a rope instead of snake". We keep making hue and cry about everything..

Saints develop compassion.
They know the panacea that would rejuvenate and blossom the individual and the universe. They say, "Practice NAMASMARAN and spread its omnipotent benevolence in individual and universal blossoming".
We say, "Thank you Sir, for your wise and invaluable advise; a wonderful solution; a panacea!. If it is in our fate (PRARABDHA); then we will certainly do this!".

Fracture Nasal Bone
(Patient information sheeth)
Fracture Nasal Bone
The disease: This is a common condition where the bone on your nose gets fractured and leads to either disfigurement and /or nasal obstruction
Diagnosis : This is done based on examination of patient. A Xray is don’t just to confirm the diagnosis. However clinical examination of patient remains the main stay for diagnosis
Treatment : The reduction of fracture is done either immediately within 4 hrs of injury or we wait for 3-4 days for the swelling over the nose to reduce.
Surgery : This is a procedure that causes some pain to patient so it is preferred to be done under full (general)Anesthesia
This entire procedure takes around 30 min.
Before surgery : Patient has to remain empty stomach for 8 Hrs. No food and water to be consumed 8 hrs before surgery.
Post surgery :
Patient has a nasal pack in his nose and he has to breathe from mouth. This pack is kept for 24-48 hrs, depending on the type of injury and amount of blood loss
You will be kept hospitalized for 1-2 days. This might be different for each patient.
A plaster of paris ( POP) cast would be kept on the nose to support and stabilize the reduced fracture. This has to be kept for 7-10 days. After that POP has to be kept only while sleep.
There is no specific dietary restriction after the surgery.
Patient can carry on with his routine day to day hectic. He has to avoid any such condition that can lead to injury to nose. Even minor injury to nose has to be avoided
Complications of Surgery: This is generally a safe surgery. However general complication of allergy to any drugs and reaction to anesthesia drugs might happen. These are very rare now a days.
As for surgery there are no major complication. However in ALL the patients after the surgery there will be some swelling on the face and around the eyes and this goes away in 2-3 days.
This is for your information and if any further clarifications needed contact your doctor

DRINKING WATER THE SAP OF LIFE FOR HOLISTIC HEALTH i.e. ENHANCING NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
DRINKING WATER THE SAP OF LIFE FOR HOLISTIC HEALTH i.e. ENHANCING NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
======================================================
Those who are not keen to read the whole article read only this
SUMMARY/CONCLUSION:
ALONG WITH NAMASMARAN; DRINK FROM 1 TO 5 GLASSES OF WATER (NOT ICE COLD OR FROM FRIDGE) IN MORNING; IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING UP.
======================================================
We must know that 66 % of the body weight is constituted by water. Out of this about 66 % i. e. about 28 liters is in the cells called intracellular fluid and about 34 % i. e. about 14 liters is outside the cells called extracellular fluid.

Right in the beginning it must be appreciated that water is essential for the saliva to form and give us; amongst
other things; the ability to taste.

Formation of saliva would be tremendously compromised if there is inadequate availability of water. It is common experience that drying of mouth is associated with:
a. sensation of thirst
b. speechlessness,
c. bad odor to breath [halitosis],
d. oral infections
e. caries of teeth..

Water is also required for the formation of gastric, pancreatic, intestinal and bile juices.

Water is required amongst other things for temperature regulation through formation of sweat.

It is by getting dissolved in water, that the nutrients can reach different parts of body.

It is the water that various chemical reactions take place so as to generate energy and also to build different body tissues, from the nutrients consumed.

The water is also required for dissolving and carrying away the waste material from the body cells.

Water is very much required for removal of waste products through the rectum and urinary bladder. The dry feces can be extremely painful and harmful and dry urine [oligouria, anuria] can be fatal. This probably does not require further elaboration as most of us have experienced the burning micturition and dry feces during fever and/or due even mild deficiency of water due to one reason or another.

But in addition water is also required for removal of toxic gases like CO2 by forming [ CO2 + H2O = H2CO3 = HCO3- + H+] NaHCO3.

In fact, it is required for dissolving, neutralizing and detoxifying several substances from all the body cells as well as specialized cells like those of liver.

It is worth noting that some individuals develop allergy to some substances including some drugs. In such situation, drinking large quantities of water is found to be beneficial. I myself; have experienced this.

It is also important to note that many of those who get dehydration and head ache; can get relief by drinking lot of water. This is because of lot of water is consumed for metabolism of alcohol leaving the body dehydrated.

It is interesting to note that the gastrointestinal tract is nothing else but the internalized skin! It is therefore natural that this tract has lot of sensory receptors; in as much as it has various glands and muscles. Therefore apart from everything else, mentioned above, the first thing that happens after we drink water is that we feel fresh! Secondly; it cleans various secretions of no consequence or those with injurious effects. Thirdly; it stimulates movements of the stomach, intestine, small intestine etc. as a result of which there is facilitation of movement of feces towards the anus. This helps in relieving constipation.

Drinking water is like internal bath.

Drinking of water can be beneficially used for many of those who wish to control habits such as tea, coffee or tobacco, alcohol etc. Since water has the paramount quenching effect it does allay the anxiety and restlessness associated with abstinence of these substances; and thus; helps overcome these habits [though other measures may also be required depending on the severity of habit/addiction in an individual case].

In view of all the above, the custom of drinking water in morning called USHAHPANAM. (Actually this a general and nonspecific term. Ushaa means the time before the sunrise and paanam means to drink) is very beneficial.

Water is life giving. Hence water itself is called life [JEEVANA]. It is very interesting to note that n India there is a custom of offering jaggery and water to the visitors. Water is served right in the beginning even in restaurants.

It also interesting to note and appreciate the practice of ACHAMANA i.e. drinking of water in small sips combined with NAMASMARAN.

NB: This is an article from my book "Conceptual Stress: Understanding and Management". If you like this; you are welcome to share it with others.
