FASTS STRESS AND HOLISTIC RENAISSANCE : DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKARWe keep fast on certain days or on certain occasions; as a part of our devotion to God, a part of rituals or for improving health.
Sometimes we refuse to eat or drink water; because we are angry or excited.
But these days we come across; our leaders going on fast to protest against certain issues and/or insist on certain maters.
While no one can be; judgmental and/or object to the right of a leader to go on fast; such fasting for pressing one’s subjective opinions and/or feelings towards certain issues (how much ever noble they may appear to be) has to be reviewed and reassessed.
Such fasting or self infliction of our leader; may be shaking millions of us; but it does not emancipate us; from the important causes of stress; viz. our slumber, lethargy, indolence, pettiness, superficiality, meekness and our over all weakness and helplessness. It does not release us; from the shackles of sectarian and piecemeal approaches, activities, conflicts and resultant stress.
For such emancipation; we better be involved in holistic renaissance i.e. evolve holistic solutions and their practice; and conquer the stress; at individual, local, national and global levels! This is possible through universalization and popularization of the practice of NAMASMARAN, which is already prevalent world over and in all religions; but in scattered manner.
