Melasma is the most relatively common skin problem that human face. In this problem, some brown spot appears on the face. This is the most common household problem among the pregnant women. It can occur due to hormonal changes during the women’s pregnancy time. These brown patches mostly appear on the forehead, cheeks, nose bridge and chin. This condition can be last for a year or maybe last for lifelong. Melasma is also called as chloasma.

Symptoms:

The common symptom is that the patches are darker than your natural skin. And it’s mostly happen in the face.

The brown colour spot more oftenly appear on the:

1.      Cheeks

2.      Nose bridge

3.      Forehead

4.      Chin

5.      Neck

6.      Forearms

Melasma doesn’t harm physically but it looks wired because it appears in the face. If you find something that than you must consult a skin specialist.

Causes:

Thecauses for melasma is quite simple but not sure it may be from sun exposure, change in hormones, using different skin care product etc.

Some common causes of melasma:

1. Sun exposure:

If a person have melasma problem before and a small amount of sun exposure happen in this area than the faded area of melasma can be developed. That’s why sun exposure in melasma is worse. That’s the reason if a person have melasma problem it’s occur again and again.

2. Change in hormones:

This is also one of the causes of melasma. Where the pregnant women mostly get the melasma. This happen when the hormones are changes.

3. Skin care product:

Skin care product can also cause melasma because if it not suit to your skin then also be its cause melasma. And changing the skin care product regularly also causes melasma.

Treatment:

Following are the treatment for melasma:

1. Diagnosed

Beforestarting anything a visual examination of the affected area is conducted to diagnose the melasma. By wood’s lamp examination the dermatologist check the bacterial and fungal infection if any and also check how many layer of skin got affected by melasma. To check the skin condition the dermatologist may ask for biopsy and this process required removing a skin layer from the affected area of melasma for the testing process.

2. Chemical peel

This is actually helpful for overcome with this condition. By doing chemical peel the skin complexion also increased. For treating melasma TCA peel or Phenol peel also used to removing the dark spot. For preventing scarring this has to be performed by the experienced skin specialist or plastic surgeon.

3. Topical therapy

This therapy is the first step in this treatment. Where the dermatologist use medicine name Hydroquinone which is available in the form of a gel, cream, lotion and oil. By this medicine, the pigmentation of the skin bring down. The very fast treatment for skin pigmentation treatment is topical therapy.

4. Nd: YAG laser

 

This is a laser treatment for removing the dark brown colour melasma. The dermatologist used a high laser beam light to remove the dark spot from the affected area. From the laser light, a high amount of heat is generate which is focus on the affected area to destroy the disease cell of that particular area of melasma.
