NEET counselling: MCI warns aspiring medical students to be wary of touts

Medical Council of India has issued a stern warning to students aspiring to enroll medical and dental programmes against falling prey to offer by touts guaranteeing seats for money.A senior MCI official said anyone tempted by such offers and skipping NEET counselling, which is mandatory for medical courses, runs the risk of having his or her admission cancelled, said reports.

          Many aspiring students are getting text messages from from touts promising them seats in private medical colleges for anything between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1.25 crore.These touts are promising them direct admissions to colleges without counselling which is strictly against NEET rules.Reports say that touts are offering admission in private medical colleges in UP and Karnataka by paying donation.MCC has clearly told students not to block seats in ist or 2nd round if found so,such students will be denied admission in future and fined too.

                  A HT report quoted a tout as saying that his commission is set and the rest of the donation would go to the colleges.MCI has warned that any attempt to seek "back door entry" through an agent would be strictly dealt with while asserting that such admissions would be caught easily.NEET counselling is mandatory and joining a medical college directly can lead to disqualification of a candidate, according to the rules.                                  This the warning every MBBS aspirant or their parents must know before hand sothat they cannot claim after admission that they have been cheated or not informed ,it is duty of student or their guardain to know details of the college where their ward is getting admitted.
